Back to School in 2020
Back to School in 2020
Last March school let out in a way few had anticipated. Parents had to learn online schooling on the fly. Work was interrupted, schedules thrown into chaos, daily life transformed at a pace and in a way we have never experienced. It all sort of resembled summer vacation – a very long, anxiety-riddled summer vacation. And just as quickly as the school year changed, the next school year is approaching. What will we do?
We don’t know yet if kids will return to classrooms on a full-time or part-time basis – or at all. But I can tell you this: we will stress. And we’ve been stressing a lot this year. So take a moment and think of some ways you will take care of yourself.
Maybe that means booking a small treatment, a day for you to take care of you. Or maybe it means scheduling a day at the salon, or getting a manicure, or wandering around the mall or a small town with a latté and a friend. It can be as simple as telling yourself that come September, you will read a page a day of a book you’ve been meaning to pick up. At the very least, drop a note in your calendar (I use my phone’s calendar app) that simply says “Self Care Now.”
Who knows what September holds. Go easy on yourself. And go easy on your family. Let the dinner dishes pile up once in a while so that you can sit down together and watch a funny movie. Approach school work with a healthy dose of humour.
If you need some time to yourself, if you’ve been thinking about getting a small treatment and are wondering about Botox or a chemical peel or how to boost your skin’s glow and get rid of some of those fine lines we’ve all earned in 2020, send me a note. I’m here for you.
